A man in his 30s has been arrested by police on suspicion of illegally entering the UK in Market Deeping today.

The arrest was made after a group of people were seen getting out of the back of a lorry on the A15 in the town just after 11am this morning.

A Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesman confirmed that reports came in of suspected illegal immigrants in the back of a lorry on the A47 Paston Parkway heading towards the A15 at Market Deeping.

Police officers then stopped a lorry and found “one person” in the back of it at about 11.15am.

A man has been arrested and is currently being taken to Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough to be interviewed by officers.
