Harington School in Oakham names its new head students
Two teenagers have been chosen as figureheads for their school during the next 12 months.
Xander Cooke and Maya Banerjee have taken over as head students at Harington School in Oakham.
They both underwent a rigorous application process which included interviews and hustings.
A spokesman for the school said: "Xander and Maya were the popular choice amongst both students and staff.
"They will be supported by a team of senior prefects as they lead a number of events during the next academic year. "
Xander is a former pupil of Stamford Welland Academy while Maya attended Uppingham Community College.
One of their first major events will be a school open evening, which is currently scheduled for November 9.
The two head students will be on hand to meet prospective new pupils who are considering Harington School for their post 16 study.
