Thistleton clock dial reinstalled

The clock dial was reinstalled on the tower at St Nicholas’ Church, Thistleton, on Tuesday.

The dial was recently sent for restoration and regilding and the contractor, Smith of Derby, carefully put the dial back in place on Tuesday.

Nancy Bench, who founded The Herb Nursery at Thistleton more than 40 years ago, was a great supporter of the church. She was the church organist and a member of the Parochial Church Council for many years. Every year the nursery would host an open garden weekend and the money raised would go to the maintenance of the church.

After Nancy died in June 2017 it was decided that it would be a fitting tribute to have the clock restored and regilded in her memory.

There will be a special service at St Nicholas Church at 3pm on Sunday, November 25, to rededicate the clock and to remember Nancy, who would have been 90 years old at the end of the month.
