Farrow and Rose, Anita Ruiz Glass Fusion and Rutland Aromas make Artisans of Uppingham
Three owners of small businesses are working together to encourage people to shop at independent stores.
Lauren Tipler of Farrow and Rose, Anita Ruiz of Anita Ruiz Glass Fusion and Emma Hart of Rutland Aromas have set up shop in the car park of The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham.
Lauren, 26, came up with the idea to join with other creatives and began circulating questionnaires to gauge interest. After narrowing it down to the trio, Artisans of Uppingham was born.
Lauren said: “It’s been going well, with positive feedback.
“The main thing is getting people to know where we are.
“It’s really good to have great feedback and positivity from people saying it is great for the town, and supporting independents.”
The Artisans of Uppingham hope to acquire bigger premises in the High Street so they can hold workshops. They host a guest artisan each week allowing others to showcase products.
“The whole idea is to support small businesses and artisans and help people get their name out there,” said Lauren, who works at The Falcon Hotel.
Artisans of Uppingham is sponsored by the Lions and Rotary clubs and The Falcon Hotel.
