Bourne Grammar School, Uppingham School and Oakham School named in East Midlands top 10 rankings by The Sunday Times
Schools from our area have been ranked among the top 10 in the region by a national guide published today (Friday).
Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2022 identifies the UK's highest-achieving schools, ranked by their examination results from 2017-19, and has broken them down into regional league tables in different categories.
Secondary school rankings for the guide's 29th edition were determined by the average percentage of examination entries gaining A* to B grades at A-level 9-7 or A* and A grades at GCSE.
Only schools that published their results in those years or disclosed them to The Sunday Times were included in the guide which includes around 1,700 schools.
Exam results from 2020 and 2021 were not used for this year’s rankings.
Bourne Grammar School was third in the top 10 state secondary schools for the East Midlands.
Nationally it was ranked 139th after recording 63.2 per cent of A* to B A-level grades, and 56.3 per cent of GCSE grades in the A*, A, and 9-7 bracket.
Lincolnshire schools took all of the top seven places in the East Midlands table which was topped by Caistor Grammar School with percentage scores of 67.9 (A-levels) and 62.4 (GCSEs).
Two Rutland schools made the list for the East Midlands' top 10 independent secondary schools.
Uppingham School came in fifth with 77.7 per cent and 70.4 per cent for A-levels and GCSEs, respectively, for a national ranking of 118th.
And Oakham School completed the list in 10th with 72 per cent and 57.5 per cent, putting them 195th in the UK.
Nottingham High School was the top-ranked school, and 76th in the UK, with scores of 86.2 and 73.0.
Burton-on the Wolds Primary School was named top primary school in the East Midlands, with no Lincolnshire or Rutland schools appearing in the top 10.
Rankings were based on the average outcomes achieved by schools in Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) from 2017 to 2019.
The full national database went online today (Friday) and will appear as a Sunday Times supplement this weekend.
