Bourne branch of Lloyds bank to close by end of year

Bourne's last bank - Lloyds - will close by the end of the year, it has been announced today (Wednesday, May 18).

Lloyds Banking Group has announced it is closing 28 branches – 20 Lloyds Bank and eight Halifax – between August and November this year.

The group cited falling customer numbers as the reason, while online and mobile banking grew.

Lloyds said each of the affected branches had a free cash machine or Post Office within one mile, letting customers do limited banking services.

The Bourne branch will close on November 21.

It follows the closure of HSBC, Barclays and Natwest in the town.
