270 trees planted by Rutland Online, Eco Web Hosting and Aveland Trees More to create wildlife haven near Market Overton
About 270 trees have been planted by three businesses as a way of transforming a two-acre field into a wildlife haven.
Liz England, from Market Overton, who owns Rutland Online, teamed up with Eco Web Hosting, from Nottingham, and Aveland Trees, from Dunsby to plant the trees in her field as part of the Woodland Trust’s Big Climate Fightback.
Liz said: “This three way partnership is an ideal way for us all to contribute to the environment.
“I provide space for the trees and ongoing maintenance, Eco Web Hosting funds the project and Aveland Trees grows and plants the trees.
“We’re all looking forward to seeing them grow, and I’m especially excited about the wildlife the new trees will attract.”
Eco Web Hosting, which already plants trees to offset its carbon footprint, had run out of space in its Nottingham wood.
Keen conservationist Liz, along with husband Phil, stepped in to help them continue their project and introduced the tech firm to Aveland Trees.
She is hoping this could become a traiblazer for firms that want to offset their carbon emissions but don’t have the space.
She added: “I’ve friends with one or two acres of land tell me they’d love to do this.”
