Barleythorpe gets its first ever Brownie pack

Twelve girls and two leaders from a new Brownie pack made their promise together at Oakham Castle.

Nichola Resoli set up the 1st Barleythorpe Brownies to give a new generation of girls a range of opportunities.

The group have been meeting at Voluntary Action Rutland for two months and were thrilled to make their promise at the castle on Wednesday evening.

Nichola said: “Barleythorpe has had a huge amount of development. I moved here three years ago and have been in Guiding as a leader for five years.

“I’ve always known it’s fantastic to get young people trying new things, having fun and learning new skills. It really empowers them.

“The ceremony was extra special with 12 girls and two adults making their promise.”
