Staff member from Three Counties Dog Rescue in Bourne isolating after Covid-19 exposure
Another first for us at Three Counties last week, writes Gyll Mauchline.
One of our team got a message through “Track and Trace” to tell her to self isolate for 10 days as she had been in the vicinity of someone with Covid-19.
The immediate reaction is to try to work out who the contact might have been but that proved to be an impossible task.
It is a necessary part of the battle against Covid but with a very small team self isolation creates problems and must be the same for all organisations of our size.
By the time of publication the self isolation period will be over and we can get back, if not to normal, to where we were.
Our rehomings are still on hold. The Covid-19 restrictions on non essential travel make it impossible for people to visit to view dogs and for us to visit homes to carry out home checks. It still seems to be a way off before we will be able to resume and with our shop also currently closed and other fundraising curtailed things remain difficult for Three Counties.
We still have people contacting us saying that other rescues are continuing to rehome but we continue to operate to the high standards we have set ourselves.
Sadly we are in the middle of the hare coursing season with over 1,000 incidents reported in Lincolnshire; as many as the whole of last season.
Make no mistake this is an evil activity with criminals travelling long distances to take part in the associated betting.
Police have asked anyone who sees evidence of this activity to phone 101 with a description of the people involved, the vehicles and registration numbers plus the location and direction of travel. Our vigilance will help to keep this in check.
