Waitrose site in Stamford is on sale for £7.68m but store will not close

The site of a supermarket in Stamford is on the market for £7.68m.

Land at West Street, Stamford has been rented by high-end food retailer Waitrose since its store opened there in 2009.

The site is currently advertised for sale by a Birmingham-based property agent - but Waitrose assures it will not result in any noticeable change for customers.

A spokesman for Waitrose said: "Our landlords are looking to sell their freehold interest.

"This has no impact on Waitrose and we continue to operate our business normally under our existing lease."

The rent for the two-acre site, which includes the shop and car park, is £430,000 a year.
