Bourne will provide places to stay warm amid cost of living crisis

Community organisations will open their doors to provide places for people to keep warm over the winter.

Bourne United Charities is dedicating £5,000 a month for six months to support 'warm hubs' during the cost of living crisis.

The donation will cover the cost of heating the buildings and providing refreshments for visitors.

People who can't afford to heat their homes will be able to visit The Salvation Army, The Butterfield Centre and Bourne Baptist Church for a hot drink and soup.

The Salvation Army in Manning Road will open on Mondays and Fridays, the Baptist Church in West Street on Tuesdays, and The Butterfield Centre in North Road on Wednesdays.

Each venue will open between 10am and 6pm.

The initiative is expected to start in mid-November.

Members of Bourne Town Council also discussed the possibility of using Bourne Corn Exchange when it isn't in use, but no dates have been confirmed.
