Whirlpool recall Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines due to safety concern
Whirlpool is recalling certain models of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines made between 2014 and 2018 because of a potential safety concern.
Lincolnshire Trading Standards is urging customers to check the list of washing machines which are being recalled due to the risk that they could catch fire.
The Whirlpool website states: "The safety issue concerns the door lock system on certain washing machines.
"When the heating element in the washing machine is activated, in very rare cases a component in the door lock system can overheat, which, depending on product features, can pose a risk of fire.
"This issue was identified by Whirlpool’s safety team, as part of the constant and rigorous monitoring of the quality and safety of all the company’s products."
People can check their appliance against the list below or by calling 0800 316 1442 or visiting the Whirlpool website.
Those with washing machines that are being recalled will be offered a free replacement.
