Bourne children showcase their artistic talents in Rotary competition
Schoolchildren created outstanding entries for this year’s Rotary Club of Bourne Young Artist of the Year competition.
The club hosts the competition every year and was delighted to receive entries from all seven eligible schools in and around the town.
This year’s theme was The Beauty of Nature and judges were delighted to see how the children interpreted the idea.
Rotarian Chris Wood said: “We wanted the children to express their own views on the theme and we received some stunning individual pieces.
"This competition enables them to interpret a given theme and using artistic skill, imagination and creativity.
"We were really pleased with the response because all seven schools contributed to the entries."
The Rotary Club of Bourne hosts the competition every year with a different theme.
This was the first time they hosted a presentation evening rather than visiting the winning schools to deliver the prizes and it provided a great opportunity for everyone to see the standard of talent in Bourne and the surrounding villages.
The prize-giving took place at Bourne Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday evening last week.
Cash prizes and certificates were presented to the children who claimed first, second and third place in each age category.
The reception and year one winners were Max Hallam of Bourne Westfield Primary Academy, Lewi Evans of The Willoughby School and Rohan Sekhar of Edenham Primary School.
Year two and three winners were Ashton Huddlestone of Morton Primary School, Isla Sansom of Morton Primary School and Ryan Clayton of Bourne Elsea Park Primary Academy.
Year four, five and six winners were Natasha Clarke-Read of Bourne Westfield Primary Academy and Fai Green of Bourne Westfield Primary Academy.
Jay Browne of the Willoughby School received a special prize.
