What's happened to the zebra crossing in Cold Overton Road, Oakham?
A passer-by was baffled to see workers have only repainted half of a zebra crossing in Oakham.
Severn Trent Water has been carrying out repairs to a burst water main in Cold Overton Road.
Nathan Ticehurst captured this picture of the crossing as he was passing on Saturday morning, surprised to see only half of the lines have been repainted.
He said: "Severn Trent said they can't repaint the whole thing as they don't have permission."
A spokesman for the water company said: “Following a burst water pipe on Cold Overton Road last week, our engineers carried out immediate repair work to fix the pipe and return the road back to normal.
"In agreement with the local authority, we restored all of the road markings that were affected by the burst. We understand the local authority will repaint the remaining areas in the near future.”
Rutland County Council has confirmed its highways team will be finishing off the work.
A spokesman said: "As part of the reinstatement of the road, Severn Trent have replaced the road markings that were affected following the repairs, which included part of the zebra crossing. This is all that Severn Trent are required to do by national legislation.
"Our highways team will therefore be painting the remainder of the markings shortly."
