Bin collections over Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day across Lincolnshire and Rutland
If you’re wondering when to put your bin out this Christmas, here are the revised collection dates.
With the three Bank Holidays falling on weekdays this festive season, collections have been pushed back.
In South Kesteven, which covers Stamford, Grantham, Bourne and the Deepings, there will be no bin collections on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
Bin collections due on Christmas Day will be on Saturday, December 23.

Those due on Boxing Day, December 27, December 28 and December 29 will be one day later, with a Saturday collection for those usually emptied on a Friday.
There will be no collection on New Year’s Day. Instead, all bin collections that week will be one day later than usual, up to and including Saturday, January 6.
These same changes also apply in Rutland.
Purple-lidded paper and card recycling bins that have been distributed in South Kesteven will not be operational until week commencing February 5, so residents who have received their should not place recycling waste in it yet.
South Kesteven District Council will also collect real Christmas trees from any home in its area for recycling. These should be left out on green garden waste bin days.
In South Holland, which covers the Spalding area, collections will move back.

Boston Borough Council dates are as follows:
Usual collection day – new collection day: Monday, December 25 – Saturday, December 23; Tuesday, December 26 – Saturday, December 30; Monday, January 1 – Tuesday, January 2; Tuesday, January 2 – Wednesday, January 3; Wednesday 3 January 2024 to be collected Thursday 4 January 2024; Thursday 4 January 2024 to be collected Friday 5 January 2024; Friday 5 January 2024 to be collected Saturday 6 January 2024.
In North Kesteven, the bins that would normally be collected on Monday, December 25, will instead be collected earlier on Saturday, December 23, while other collections will move back.
Usual collection day – new collection day: Monday, December 25 – Saturday, December 23; Tuesday, December 26 – Wednesday, December 27; Wednesday, December 27 – Thursday, December 28; Thursday, December 28 – Friday, December 29; Friday, December 29 – Saturday, December 30; Monday, January 1 – Tuesday, January 2; Tuesday, January 2 - Wednesday, January 3; Wednesday, January 3 – Thursday, January 4; Thursday, January 4 – Friday, January 5; Friday, January 5 – Saturday, January 6.
In West Lindsey, the days will be as follows:
Usual collection day – new collection day: Monday, December 25 – Saturday, December 23; Tuesday, December 26 – Wednesday, December 27; Wednesday, December 27 – Thursday, December 28; Thursday, December 28 – Friday, December 29; Friday, December 29 – Saturday, December 30; Monday, January 1 – Tuesday, January 2; Tuesday, January 2 – Wednesday, January 3; Wednesday, January 3 – Thursday, January 4; Thursday, January 4 – Friday, January 5; Friday, January 5 – Saturday, January 6. Please note that these day changes do not apply if you are on a sack collection service and live in Gainsborough.
In East Lindsey, residents are asked to check the website for their bin collection dates. Some areas are split in terms of collection rounds so it’s important residents check for their specific address. If your address does not appear, please call customer contact on 01507 601111.
The City of Lincoln Council will be moving the bin collections due to take place on the bank holidays. If your bin is normally collected on Monday, December 25, it’ll be collected earlier on Saturday, December 23. Bins normally collected on Tuesday, December 26, will be collected on Saturday, December 30 and bins normally collected on Monday, January 1, will instead be collected on Saturday, January 6.
The following items cannot be recycled in Lincolnshire and must go in the black general waste bin:
• Glittery wrapping paper, glittery/foil cards
• Plastic bags, including carrier bags
• Dirty used foil
• Takeaway containers
• Crisp tubes and packets
All bins must be out by 6.30am on the day of collection.
