The pubs in Stamford, Rutland, Bourne and the Deepings which have closed and stayed empty

Whether you're a regular or pop in for a pint occasionally, the closure of a good pub is always a shame.

Often pubs are taken over by raring-to-go landlords, or for an increasing number these days turned into houses.

But across the area a number of pubs stand empty, some having recently closed while others have been collecting dust for a while.

The closure of the pub still remains a mystery after drinkers were asked to put down their pints and leave in August 2020. Ever since the doors have remained closed.

The building stands as it was with the opening hours and beer bottles still in the window gathering dust.

At the time of the closure the Mercury tried a number of times to contact the pub chain owner Samuel Smith Old Brewery.

The managers of The Five Bells announced its closure after seven months' trading.

Changes to the building lease meant the owners could no longer run the business, according to the managers.

The team were selling off items relating to the pub, including parasols, beer mats and drinks glasses, through the 'Five Bells Inn - Edenham' Facebook page.

The Five Bells is listed as up for sale on Rightmove with a guide price of £45,000.
