Writer pens guide outlining favourite walks in Stamford and Rutland

A Stamford writer has penned a 68-page guide outlining 21 of his favourite walks in the Stamford and Rutland area.

Will Hetherington hopes his guide ‘Will’s Walks’ will expose some of the areas hidden gems, from Harringworth Viaduct to Shillingthorpe Park.

Having written a monthly walking feature for Active magazine for the last eight years and having explored routes both abroad and closer to home, he feels well prepared to select some of the best routes.

Will, who was born in Stamford, said: “Over the years I have walked most of the footpaths in Rutland and the Stamford area and I revisit my favourites regularly - not least because I have two Labradors who, regardless of weather conditions, always want a walk.

“In this new guide I have tried to give a balanced spread of walks from all around the local area. But please don’t blame me if it’s a bit muddy out there – after all this is England.”

The book is sponsored by Rutland-based healthcare firm Cell Regeneration and is split into three categories; up to one hour, between one and two hours, and two hours plus.
