The world’s strongest man is coming to Stamford.

Eddie Hall, the man who can lift cars, pull planes, throw beer barrels and is the only person ever to deadlift half a tonne, will visit Rhinos Gymansium on Sunday, August 26.

Rhinos Gymansium owners, father and son duo Nick and Sam Swann, said they were excited to welcome Eddie, who is also known as The Beast, to Stamford.

Rhinos was selected by Pulse Equipment from gyms around the country to host Eddie for a unique training and demonstration session.

“It is quite a major achievement for us to win this competition and helps not only put Rhino’s on the map but Stamford as a whole,” said Nick.

“We were nominated by our members, and out of 70,000 nominations nationwide, 100 gyms were selected by Pulse Equipment- Eddie’s sponsors - for an opportunity for Eddie to train at their gym.

“Out of these 100 gyms, Rhinos was selected as the number one gym out of three for Eddie to train at.”

Eddie will be at Rhinos for a total of four hours where he will give training demonstrations, take part in a question and answer session, sign autographs and pose for photographs while some lucky gym goers will get a chance to train with him.

“Due to the overwhelming response, we have limited tickets to Rhinos members only but the gym will be open as usual so there may be opportunities to meet Eddie on the day,” said Nick, adding that Eddie would also pull the Rhinos Land

Rover.

In a statement on his website, Eddie, who weighs more than 170kg, said: “I have dedicated my life to reach the pinnacle.

“I’ve lifted weights so heavy that I’ve woken up in pools of blood.

“My eyes have almost burst from my head.

“It sounds like madness, but it’s not.

“It’s a man seeking to be the very best he can be.”

Born in Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, Eddie was a successful competitive swimmer while at school but was later expelled.

He worked as a mechanic in Market Drayton, Shropshire and trained and competed as a bodybuilder before entering the strongman circuit.

He would eventually go on to win both the World’s Strongest Man and Britain’s Strongest Man titles in 2017 and finished runner up in Europe’s Strongest Man that same year.

He is the only person to ever deadlift 500kg, a feat achieved in 2016.
