Stamford writer needs crowdfunding to launch podcast project
A writer is looking forward to launching a series of podcasts based on the topic of home.
The Way Home Project is the culmination of a lifetime’s obsession for Lesley Gibson who interviewed a series of artists for the recordings.
Lesley, from Stamford, said: “Home is what we all have in common.
“We all need shelter and a place of safety. Sadly we don’t all get that but in these podcasts I aim to find out whether creative people are creative because of or despite their home town.”
The interviews explore what performers, writers and musicians look for in a community and why they choose to live in a particular place.
Lesley added: “It’s an emotive subject as we soon find out, as well as one that can be outrageously funny but overall it’s one that speaks to the human condition and is particularly relevant for today’s changing world.”
The podcasts feature a range of well-known people and lesser known artists.
Award-winning crime writer Val McDermid features in the first episode.
Future episodes will include presenter and Guardian columnist Tom Dyckhoff, mixed media artist Delaine Le Bas and poet Keely Mills.
Local band The Tin Pigeons have supported the project by providing artwork, performing the theme tune 'Home' and appearing in one of the interviews.
The project is backed by a crowdfunding campaign and Lesley is looking for more people to offer their support.
She said: “If we don’t get behind art projects like this, they just won’t happen.”
Rewards for supporters include tote bags, T-shirts, Tin Pigeons CDs and extra downloadable content.

The podcasts will be available on Spotify, iTunes and YouTube in October.
