Stamford School pupil makes regionals of Rotary Club's Young Chef Competition

A pupil's three-course meal wowed the judges of a young chef competition.

In the first round of the Rotary Club of Stamford's Young Chef competition Rory Cullen, a Year 9 pupil at Stamford School, was recognised for his top-notch cooking skills.

He made fresh tomato soup with focaccia bread, breaded cod fillet with parmentier potatoes and peas with bacon and leek, and finished the menu off with chocolate cheesecake and passion fruit coulis.

The annual competition, which is designed to promote an important life skill, involves cooking a three-course meal for two people within 90 minutes.

The second round, which was a Rotary 1070 District event, saw 11 young people compete for the top spot.

Rory shone through and was placed second, qualifying him for the regional rotary event to be held in Cambridge later this year.
