Team GB choose Bourne schoolgirl to carry the flag at World Triathlon Series in Nottingham
A schoolgirl with ambitions to run faster than Mo Farah was honoured to carry the Team GB Flag at a triathlon competition.
Mia Ramsamy trains with Ketton Panthers and was part of a trip to watch the World Triathlon Series in Nottingham on Saturday.
She was delighted to be plucked from the crowd and asked to carry the flag for Team GB before the sporting action got under way.
Proud mum Claire Munsey said: "I couldn't believe it. She walked down there like it was just a walk in the park with the whole team behind her."
Around 60 young triathletes from across the East Midlands attended the event.
Mia, 11, took up the sport two years ago when she started to show promise as a runner.
Her grandad took her to try out for the Ketton Panthers and she has trained with them since ever then.
Mia has a treadmill at home, swims every week and trains every weekend. She also runs with Bourne Town Harriers and is a sports ambassador at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy.
In September she will move to Bourne Academy where she hopes to continue her sport.
Claire said: "She's more enthusiastic than ever.
"She just loves competing and always gives it her best shot."
Mia is currently ranked sixth in the East Midlands in the Tristar 2 category for 11-12 year olds.
Within the next 10 years she would like to compete in the Olympics and dreams of running faster than Mo Farah.
