Parties, nights out and events this Christmas in Stamford, Oakham, Uppingham, Bourne and the Deepings




If you're looking for some festive fun during December, then check out this handy online guide to the parties, nights out and daytime events happening in the Stamford, Rutland and Bourne areas.

There is plenty to choose from to make your Christmas even more special, so pour yourself a mulled wine and see what's happening.

Tuesday December 3

Yarns at Yuletide - Stamford sights and secrets tours. Meet at Stamford Arts Centre for hot chocolate or mulled wine, followed by a walking tour taking in Stamford's sights, twinkly lights and traditions.

The tour will discuss Yuletide through the ages, including the origins of eating humble pie, Stamford's 'Plum Pudding Scheme' and The Waitsmen's choral performances. Tickets £10 with tour starting at 3pm from the Stamford Arts Centre. Tours will also take place on Tuesday December 10 at 3pm and Thursday December 12 at 5.30pm.

Wednesday, December 4

The Big Fun Christmas Quiz at the Grainstore Brewery. The charity quiz will start at 8pm in the Grainstore Brewery, Oakham with snacks and refreshments included. There will be a cost of £5 per team.

Friday December 6

The Tin Pigeons at Mama Liz's. The indie two-piece will be performing from 7.30pm to 11pm at Mama Liz's, Stamford. Tickets cost £7.70 (including a booking fee) and can be brought from WeGotTickets. Over 18s only.

Lee Robertshaw at The Danish Invader, Stamford. Acoustic songs by popular indie and rock artists will be played by Lee Robertshaw. The event will take place from 9pm to 11.30pm at The Danish Invader in Stamford.

ABBA Christmas party at Stamford Corn Exchange. Bootleg Abba will be performing from 8pm to 10.30pm. Tickets cost £20.50.

Saturday December 7

The Scary Clown presents Xmas with Pizzatramp and Friends at Mama Liz's. Listen to the aural yuletide logs of Pizzatramp with support from Brassick, Mixtape Saints, Kicked in the Teeth and Shirka. The event will begin from 9pm at Mama Liz's, Stamford. Over 18s only.

Empingham Christmas Party. Music, a buffet and a free glass of Prosecco. 7pm to 12am at Empingham Cricket Club. Tickets can be brought for £35.00 by contacting Vic on 07818 065470.

Wisteria Hotel's Christmas disco. Three course choice meal and disco. Tickets cost £30 per person and can be brought from the Wisteria Hotel's website. 6.30pm to 11.45pm at the Wisteria Hotel in Oakham. Disco Christmas party night's will also take place on Saturday December 14 and Thursday December 19.

Sunday, December 8

The Jeanie Barton Quartet concert. The group will perform in the Cellar Bar at the Stamford Arts Centre. The music will start at 8pm and tickets cost £12. A voucher for £1 off the first drink will be included with each ticket purchase.

Christmas Past Tour. A festive Blue Badge tour of Stamford at 11am. Tickets £7.50 from this website or by calling Jill on 01780 729076 or 07712 853854. Includes mulled wine and mince pies.

Monday, December 9

Après ski lodge pop up bar. The themed bar in the yard, Church Street, Oakham. Additional dates are Friday 13, Saturday 14, Friday 20, Saturday 21 (5-11pm) and Tuesday 24 (12-9pm).

Thursday, December 12

Stamford Late night shopping. The event - held by the #ShopStamford initiative - will see many of the the town's independent retailers putting on special offers or goodies to entice shoppers in. There will also be carol singers to add to the festive atmosphere. The event provides the perfect opportunity to do a bit of Christmas shopping before going to the pub for an evening drink. People will enjoy free parking from 3pm and the shops staying open until 9pm.

The Story of Goth at Mama Liz's. The Cure vs The Banshees. There is a full pre-show menu on the restaurant floor. Tickets cost £12.00 with a £1.20 fee and can be brought from the Fatsoma website. Over 18s only.

A Pint of Comedy at The Cellar Bar, Stamford. Tickets cost £7, which includes £1 off first drink voucher.

Falcon Christmas Party Night. The party will take place from 6pm to11pm at the Falcon Hotel in Uppingham. There will be festive food, drink and dancing. There is a cost of 37.50 and tickets can be booked by ringing 01572 823535 or e-mailing info@falcon-hotel.co.uk

Saturday, December 14

Murph's House 2: Xmas Special at Mama Liz's. A night of tech/house in memory of Conor Murphy. Tickets are available from skiddle.com with profits benefitting Cancer Research UK. The event will take place at The Voodoo Lounge at Mama Liz's from 10pm until 2am.

Wednesday, December 18

Pint of Poetry at the Cellar Bar. A live stand-up poetry evening. Read your own poem or enjoy the poetry of others over a nice cold drink. Starts 8pm.

Thursday, December 19

Student Lockdown - Elf Edition. 10pm until 4.30am at Willoughby's Bar and Nightclub, Stamford. Live stage games and a chance to win prizes. Happy hour will be taking place until 12am with free entry before 11.30pm. Over 18s only.

Grainstore Brewery Christmas Comedy Club Special. Doors open at 6.15pm and the show begins at 8.15pm. Tickets cost £10 and are available from their website.

Friday, December 20

Stamford Groove at Stamford Arts Centre. A fun night for adults with disabilities (aged 16 plus), their families and support workers. Dance and socialise in a safe place. A quiet zone is provided in a separate room for anyone needing a break. The event will take place at Stamford Arts Centre from 7pm to 9pm. Wheelchair access is available. Tickets can be brought from the Stamford Arts Centre website.

Christmas Carols with Stamford Brass. Traditional festive music and singing at The Bertie Arms pub in Uffington. Starts 3.30pm.

Monday, December 23

Christmas Carol sing-a-long at the Grainstore Brewery. Entry is free and the evening will begin at 7.30pm.

Tuesday, December 24

Christmas Eve Onesie Party at Bills Bar, Oakham. 10pm to 3am.

Saturday, December 28

BodyGroovin Presents New Years Pre Party at Mama Liz's. A pre-party at Voodoo lounge, featuring party cannons and music. Entry is £5. Over 18s only.

Tuesday, December 31

Greetham Valley's Black-tie New Year's Eve Party. Five course gala dinner, a contemporary jazz group and a disco. Tickets cost £67.50 per person

Glitter Ball New Year's Eve Party at Willoughby's nightclub. Elegant and sophisticated dress code with a theme of gold, silver and sequins. Doors are open until 1.45am with the party continuing until 4.30am. Over 18s only.

Roaring 1920s New Year’s Eve Party at Cosy Club Stamford. Cocktail and canapé reception, four course dinner, Prosecco toast at midnight, live music, dancing, a vintage polaroid memento, fancy dress. Tickets cost £54.95 per person. Bar tickets are also available from 8pm for £15 and include a welcome cocktail, a Prosecco toast at midnight and a table for the evening.
