Felix Beech is the new head coach at Stamford Tennis Club

A young tennis coach has returned to his home-town club to take on a prominent role.

Felix Beech was a member of Stamford Tennis Club for more than 13 years and learned to play the game there.

He went on to compete at county and university level before setting up his own coaching company, FJ Tennis.

The 24-year-old was a Stamford schoolboy before going on to the University of Stirling, where he focussed on the study of sports coaching, sports business and sports psychology.

After graduation, he became head tennis coach for Mark Warner at their holiday resort in Paleros and then worked as a full-time coach at the Peterborough City Club.

FJ tennis were winners of a competitive tender process to earn the right to provide coaching services at Stamford Tennis Club where Felix will be the head coach.

He said: “Stamford Tennis Club is where I fell in love with the game, and it was a massive part of my childhood.

“I am hugely passionate about the club and am incredibly excited about returning to be a part of it again.

“I have taught the full range of ages and abilities and take great pride in developing junior tennis, as well as growing participation in adult tennis at all levels.

“During my junior years I was a performance tennis player at Stamford Tennis Club, Hills Road Cambridge Tennis Centre and Loughborough University.

“This has given me a great understanding of what a performance set up looks like, as well as making me aware of what players may and may not respond to.”

FJ Tennis intends to create a clear pathway for players to navigate and develop within the club environment at both adult and junior level.

The group coaching on offer will be progressive to give participants the feeling of improvement and to continually keep tennis fun and exciting.

Felix commences his new role on April 1, with Easter Camps starting on April 4 and the main coaching programme running from April 17.

Club chairman Mark Anderson commented: “We are really excited about bringing Felix back to the club as head coach.

“We look forward to working with Felix and his team to increase the number of opportunities for all members of the Stamford tennis community to participate in group lessons, individual coaching, social tennis and competitive play.”
