Burghley Park 2nds are celebrating the first title triumph of the season.

They were crowned South Lincs and Border League Division Two champions after victory over Grantham 3rds on Saturday.

It was the team's first league title since it was reformed and Burghley were two-wicket winners on Saturday to secure their 14th league victory of the season and put them 58 points clear of second-placed Moulton Harrox 2nds with just two matches remaining.

Hosts Grantham had been bowled out for 151 with James Biggs leading the Burghley attack after taking 3-14 from six overs while Harry Armstrong had a tidy nine-over stint of 2-21.

Opener Chris Armstrong then led a successful run chase as he smashed 12 boundaries in an unbeaten 83 while Charlie Biggs added a crucial 21 as Burghley struggled to form strong partnerships.

It was left to Harry Armstrong to join his dad, Chris, in the middle with nine runs required.

The pair nudged their way to the target and, with two runs required, Harry was able to slap one through cover for four to secure the title.

A fantastic all-round performance from Baston's Jules McAlpine had ended Moulton Harrox 2nds' hopes of catching Burghley.

McAlpine struck an unbeaten century and also took four wickets as Baston beat Moulton by 60 runs.

He smashed 18 fours and a six in his 119 not out off 139 balls as Baston posted 203-8 from their 45 overs with David Conlon adding 22.

Alex Baker, Cameron Fox and Ruari Drumm all took two wickets each for Moulton who were dismissed for 143 in reply.

Opener Anish Suwarneraj top-scored with 45 before McAlpine took 4-20 from eight overs to end Harrox's championship hopes.

Burghley and Moulton are both leading the race for honours in the Championship after they were each victorious on Saturday.

Burghley remain in pole position as they hold a 50-point advantage over Moulton who have a game in hand on the leaders.

A convincing 143-run win over Grantham 2nds maintained Burghley's title charge as they racked up 291-8 after batting first.

Sam Potter plundered 15 fours and a six in his 101 while Oscar Jackson made 74 with Peter Foster adding 51.

Grantham were dismissed for 148 in their reply as Potter picked up 3-3 from his five overs while Matt Williams and Ahsan Azhar bagged a brace each.

Moulton were eight-wicket winners over Bourne 2nds at Broad Lane after bowling out their visitors for 170.

Tom Patchett and Grant Van Rensburg both made 34 for Bourne while Lee Eyett claimed 4-32 with Robbie Townsend taking 3-39.

Townsend (37) and Jamie Juckes (59) put on 86 runs for the first Moulton wicket to give their chase a solid start.

An unbeaten 63-run stand between Josh Newton (37no) and Blake Wolstenholme (29no) then saw Harrox home.

Billingborough won the basement battle with Freiston after beating their bottom of the table visitors by just two runs.

A strong showing from their top order helped Billingborough post 237 from their 45 overs after electing to bat first.

Dylan Garfoot (58) and Chris King (49) enjoyed a 103-run opening stand before Aaron Pullum added 37 with James Zealand making 24.

Freiston then fell agonisingly short of their target as they finished their 45 overs on 235-9 with Donnel Sylvester taking four wickets for Billingborough.

Ketton Sports strengthened their grip on the Division One title race after victory in their table-topping clash with Ancaster.

They won by eight wickets in the meeting of the top two teams at Pit Lane and now have a 32-point lead at the top with three matches remaining.

Freddie Renton and Charles Anslow both took three wickets each for Sports as Ancaster were bowled out for 179.

Opener Brad Lucas then carried his bat by hitting 17 boundaries in his 83 not out while Dan Hughes was undefeated on 68 at the close as Sports secured the win inside 27 overs.

Market Deeping 2nds skittled out Royal Boston for just 84 in their five-wicket win in the same division.

Kester Sainsbury and Parwaz Safi both took three wickets for Deeping before Evan Donaldson led their successful run chase with 29.
