Deeping Rangers are in United Counties League KO Cup action on Saturday when they host Coventry United

Joint manager Luke Hipwell feels things are starting to come to fruition as Deeping Rangers begin to find some consistency in their campaign.

The Clarets have lost just once in their last seven outings in all competitions while maintaining their three-pronged push for success.

They have progressed in the United Counties League KO Cup, Lincolnshire Senior Trophy and Hinchingbrooke Cup over the past month after a tricky start to Hipwell and Scott Bogusz's tenure at the Haydon Whitham Stadium.

Rangers won just twice in their opening seven matches in what was a 'learning curve' for the new management duo.

Hipwell said: "We are definitely finding a little bit more consistency in terms of the results.

"The performances for the most part have been pretty good. Although we've lost six league games, five have been by the odd goal and it was just small margins that have cost us points.

"It's definitely been a learning curve for me in terms of management with regard to how we get the players to respond.

"I've just had to chill out a little bit more after initially putting too much pressure on myself which consequently came across to the players.

"Apart from a couple of performances, I can't fault the boys in terms of effort and application.

"It's just been more of a case of not having that little bit of luck at times going our way in order to be on the right side of the results.

"It seems to be happening more frequently in the past five or six games and the group has been learning about us and we've been doing the same with them.

"We've made some significant changes in terms of personnel since we've been at the club and it was always going to take time to embed what we're asking of the players.

"It was about how they responded to it by understanding what we want from them and then applying it but we feel that it's starting to come to fruition."

Rangers were 4-2 home winners in their Premier Division North clash with Leicester Nirvana on Saturday as four different marksmen found the net.

Matt Sparrow, Will Bird, David Burton-Jones and Josh Sennett were all on target in a strong attacking performance.

Hipwell added: "We were disappointed to concede the second goal but being two clear in terms of the scoreline did do us justice.

"It probably could have been more as it was our best consistent attacking display of the season.

"Matt Sparrow was fantastic while Ben Seymour-Shove is getting fitter and fitter with every game.

"It's been great to have Josh Moreman with us on loan from Spalding and getting Will Bird back from injury is a massive plus for us.

"Having those four going forward has been great as well as having the younger lads.

"Josh Sennett has shown his fantastic attitude and ability as well as Sam Fielding and Kee Walker who have risen to the challenge.

"I have been impressed by all three and, as I say to them all the time, they are the future of the football club and you can start to build a bit of a team around them for the next five or six years."

Rangers also included full-back Aaron Hart and winger Amir Ward in Saturday's squad under dual registration from Spalding and Stamford respectively.

Hipwell commented: "Both Brett Whaley (Spalding manager) and Graham Drury (Stamford manager) have been really supportive of us, trying to help as much as possible which we're really grateful for. It's helped both clubs and it's been positive for us."

Deeping are in KO Cup action on Saturday when they host Premier Division South side Coventry United in a first round tie.

They have also arranged their Lincolnshire Senior Trophy tie at Blackstones for Wednesday, November 16, and have been handed an away tie at Godmanchester Rovers in the next stage of the Hinchingbrooke Cup.

Hipwell added: "Coventry have been doing alright and look pretty similar to us in terms of their form by winning a few and losing a few.

"They had a good win in the Vase on Sunday so we know it will be another tough game which we'll be prepared and ready for.

"It's been good to get through in all three cup competitions and hopefully we can keep it up.

"You want to try and win every competition that you enter and it would be nice to go as far as we can in them all."

Rangers have lost the services of Robbie Ellis this week after he joined Division One neighbours Bourne Town where he will link up with ex-Clarets from last season in Dan Swan, Sam Wilson, Jake Brown and Jake Showler.

Hipwell explained: "It's unfortunate to lose Robbie, but he's had a bit of a stop-start season so far for various different reasons.

"He just wants to get as many minutes as possible at the moment and feels the move will allow him to do that. We're gutted to lose him, but equally the door is always open if he wants to return at any point."
