Stamford Belvedere and Stamford AFC Reserves play in the Zeeco Cup final to raise money for the Tom Mann Foundation




Stamford Bels and Stamford AFC Reserves are set for a cup final showdown on Friday night.

The two teams meet in the final of the Zeeco Cup at Borderville (7pm).

The competition is raising funds for the Tom Mann Foundation with the duo booking their places in the final after victories this week.

Bels overcame Wittering Premiair 4-1 in their semi-final on Monday night after goals from Scott Toomey, Jordan Neil, JJ Roberts and Luke Cramp.

The Daniels' second string were 3-1 winners against Ketton Sports in their last four tie at Cottesmore's Westray Park's ground.

The two teams have both had successful league campaigns with Bels winning the Division One title and Stamford securing a second consecutive promotion after finishing as runners-up in Division Three.

Deeping Rangers are also hosting a cup final tonight (Friday) when Netherton United face Whaplode Drove.

They will be competing for the Peterborough Junior Cup (7.45pm) with former Stamford midfielder David Norris poised to make an appearance for Whaplode.

Norris went on to make more than 500 professional appearances after starting his career with the Daniels before he moved on to Boston United.

He played professionally for Bolton Wanderers, Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town, Portsmouth and Leeds United during his career.

The 44-year-old has been registered this season with Whaplode who play in Division One of the Peterborough League.

Norris is a close friend of Rovers chairman Al Lenihan who helped launch his career as a youngster and he has already made two appearances for the club this season.

He featured in a recent league game against Netherton when he apparently indicated he could be involved in the cup final against them.

Oakham United complete their Premier Division campaign on Saturday with a home match against Leverington Sports.

They look set to finish 12th in the 15-team division while the reserves have ended their campaign second-from-bottom in Division Two.

Oakham's second string lost 3-1 at promoted Bourne Town Reserves in their final game with Obi Morgan netting their goal.

The Wakes were then 2-1 home winners over Hampton United Reserves on Saturday as they rounded off the season in second spot for a third successive promotion.

Uppingham Reserves drew 1-1 at home to Whaplode Drove Rovers in their Division Three finale with Harley Pridmore scoring for Town who have ended 12th in the 15-team division.

Ketton Sports Blue finished their Division Four season on a high with a 2-1 home success over runners-up ICA Sports.

Seb Mills scored both of the goals for Sports to secure a fifth-placed finish in the 14-team division.

Oakham United Women have a chance of securing second spot in Division One of the Leicestershire Women's League.

They boosted their hopes of finishing runners-up to unbeaten leaders Coalville Town Ravens with a vital victory on Sunday.

The Rutland side defeated Kirby Muxloe Ladies at Newton Fallowell Meadow to leave the destiny of finishing second in their own hands.

They are four points adrift of second-placed Kirby but have two games in hand with their penultimate fixture of the season away at the Leicestershire side.

Two second half goals from Zina Cheikh secured Sunday's success which came on the back of a massive midweek win.

They thrashed Marlborough Rovers 14-0 with Cheikh and Molly Cunningham leading the scoring spree after both netted five times.

Emma Couzens, Gemma Davies, Katie Midgley and Victoria Smith also scored for the Leicestershire League Cup winners.

Their next match is on Sunday at home to East Goscote United before the trip to Kirby Muxloe on Wednesday, May 7, is followed by a home game with Allexton and New Parks to complete the campaign on Sunday, May 11.
