Stamford AFC miss out on the Southern League Premier Division Central play-offs after defeat at Mickleover

Defeat in their final league match of the season ended Stamford's hopes of finishing in the play-off places.

The Daniels went down to a 3-0 away reversal at Mickleover who defied a 12-point deduction for fielding an ineligible player to secure a top five finish in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

Graham Drury's side fell behind early on when Marcus Barnes gave their Derbyshire hosts a seventh minute advantage.

Two goals in nine minutes after the break from Will Trueman and Ben Sault then sent Stamford to defeat and a seventh place finish in their first season back at step three of the non-league pyramid.

The game brought a landmark milestone for Stamford veteran Jon Challinor who made his 400th appearance for the club.

Bourne brought the curtain down on their superb United Counties League season with a 3-1 away success at Clifton All Whites.

Zak Munton, James Hill-Seekings and Zac Allen were on target for the Division One champions.
