Defender Ed Cook signs for Stamford AFC on the Northern Premier League deadline day

Stamford have made a deadline day signing after bringing defender Ed Cook back to the Zeeco Stadium.

Cook played for the Daniels in the early part of this season's Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign while on loan from Kettering Town.

He then moved to Grantham Town before joining the Daniels ahead of Saturday's home match with Sutton Coldfield.

Manager Graham Drury said: "We felt that we needed some extra cover in the defensive area with James Blunden currently sidelined and both Marshall Willock and Sean Wright struggling with injuries.

"Ed was brilliant for us during his last spell at the club and we know what we're getting with him.

"He knows all of the lads, the staff and the set-up at the club and it's great to have back in the fold."
