Deeping United score 13 goals to beat Parkside Reserves in Peterborough League clash

Deeping United sent out a strong statement of intent as they kicked-off their Peterborough League Division 5A campaign with their biggest win of the season on Saturday.

Having topped the Division Five table before the division was split into two, Deeping were determined to continue their power-packed performances.

And they picked up where they left off in style with a 13-goal mauling of Parkside Reserves in Saturday's clash on the 3G pitch at Borderville.

It was Deeping's fourth double figure goal haul of the season and their second against Parkside who were on the receiving end of a 12-0 defeat when they two sides had met last month.

Joint United manager Ian Abbott commented: "I couldn't have asked for much more from the players.

"Parkside have had some good results recently so we couldn't take anything for granted but our mentality was right.

"Our work-rate was excellent and we didn't stop. We won the battle for the middle of the park and controlled the game."

It took United just 35 seconds to go into the lead as they knocked the ball into the channel from kick-off and it was latched onto by the lightning-quick Josh Raven who crossed for Steve Jucikas to tap home.

The lead was then doubled inside the opening 10 minutes as Jucikas set up Ryan Ellwood to score the first of his four-goal haul.

The goal of the game then arrived midway through the first half when left-back Lewis Bradley played a slick one-two with Arron Raven before racing clear and firing his finish into the top corner of the Parkside net.

Ellwood again joined forces with Jucikas to add Deeping's fourth goal before Josh Raven set up his cousin Arron to make it five on the stroke of half-time.

Four further goals then followed in 13 second-half minutes as Deeping continued to pile on the pressure.

Bradley provided the pass for Ellwood to complete his hat-trick before Sammy Linford created the opening for Arron Raven's second and Deeping's seventh.

Arron Raven then completed a personal 11-minute hat-trick from Dan Cushen's pass with Bradley adding to his haul of assists by providing Jucikas with the ammunition to make it 9-0.

Substitute Scott Stojanovic then joined the scoring spree with two goals in four minutes from assists by Linford and Ellwood.

And there was still time for Jucikas to complete his hat-trick with five minutes remaining with Ellwood this time the provider.

Ellwood had the final say with his fourth goal and Deeping's 13th of the afternoon after 86 minutes from Stojanovic's delivery.
