Stamford AFC and Glinton & Northborough join forces with Peterborough United
Two flourishing football clubs have renewed their partnership agreements with League One side Peterborough United.
Stamford AFC and Glinton & Northborough remain part of the initiative with Posh which aims to establish a successful link and pathway with outstanding grassroots clubs across the area.
The duo are among eight teams who have been announced as partner clubs for the 2020-2021 campaign and were thrilled at continuing the partnerships.
Stamford AFC director Guy Walton said: "We are delighted and proud to have renewed our partnership agreement with Peterborough United.
"Our close relationship with the Posh continues to create development opportunities for young talented players and coaches wishing to develop their game understanding and teaching techniques through professional development events and regular fixtures between the clubs."
Glinton & Northborough chairman Ian Bradberry added: "Its great that we are able to be seen as one of the leading grassroots teams in the region with 23 teams for the coming season from Under 7s to walking football with both boys and girls teams across five different leagues.
"We are proud to work alongside the professional team at Peterborough United.
"This partnership allows us to develop players and coaches between both clubs and will give our growing set-up the insight into becoming a professional footballer or coach. We are super excited to be working together again."
The partnership aims to have positive benefits for both clubs, providing opportunities for players and staff members at partner clubs, through integration with Posh's network of highly-qualified coaches and their sport science team.
The partner clubs will receive continuing professional development events hosted by Peterborough United staff across all dimensions of the game from coaching to sport science.
They will also have access to fixtures within the academy age groups and entered into a yearly partner club tournament.
Sam Gaughran, Posh's head of academy recruitment, commented: "Peterborough United are looking to build strong and lasting relationships with local football clubs.
"It is important to work closely with grassroots teams locally and give back to clubs when we can. Having partner clubs can help break down barriers when a talented player is scouted.
"We started with the partner clubs in the 2019/2020 season and we are building on this to continue it into the 2020/2021 season.
"Already this season we have had one CPD event where David Webb spoke about recruitment and his experiences working at some of the top clubs in England.
“We have also fulfilled fixtures against some partner clubs showcasing their talent against our academy age groups.
"Every partner club selects a partner club manager who I work closely with and through this we managed to sign eight talented players last season and this season into our academy age groups.”
