Medal haul for Deepings Swimming Club at the Lincolnshire County Championships




Deepings Swimming Club have enjoyed a memorable 2025 Lincolnshire County Championships.

Across all the age groups, Deepings sent a squad of 24 qualifiers to the championships over three weekends and altogether they managed a fantastic return of seven gold medals, 10 silver and 19 bronze.

Within that haul of medals, there were 56 finalists, six club records, 101 personal bests and 19 Midlands regional qualifying times.

Head coach Sam Peeroo was thrilled with the performance of the club.

She said: "The club is super proud of the effort and dedication our swimmers have put in during these championships.

"We congratulate all who took part and would like to thank everyone who worked on the poolside or supported our swimmers from the balcony."

Leading the way was James Cash in the boys 15 years age group, who managed a fantastic four gold medals (400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle and the 400m individual medley), three silver (200m individual medley, 200m backstroke, 200m fly) and a bronze in the 100m individual medley.

Cash rounded off this superb performance by claiming silver in the Overall 1500m Championships (all age groups) and bronze in the Overall 800m Championships (all age groups).

Amongst all this, Cash qualified for 16 events and made the final of every one. He also claimed four club records, 20 personal bests and eight Midlands regional qualifying times.

Other multi medal winners included Aoife Hickey in the girls 10/11 age group.

Competing in her first County Championships, Hickey qualified for 11 events, making six finals and winning one silver (100m backstroke) and three bronze medals (400m freestyle, 100m individual medley, 50m fly) while setting 15 new personal bests.

Evie Davies, also in the girls 10/11 age group, qualified for 10 events and made five finals, winning three bronze medals (100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley) all while setting 10 personal best.

Lottie Jenkinson in the girls 15 years age group won three gold medals (1500m freestyle, 100m fly, 200m fly), four bronze (500m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 50m fly) and also bronze in the Overall 200m Fly Championships (all age groups).

Jenkinson managed 11 personal bests and three Midlands regional qualifying times within those successes.

Noah Skinner, in the boys 14 years age group, claimed two bronze medals (800m freestyle and 50m breaststroke) while Jacob Briers in the boys 17 years age group won silver medals in the 1500m freestyle and 200m backstroke and also won overall bronze in both these events (all age groups).

There were also a number of swimmers who were individual medal winners, including Oliver Shepherd (boys 16 years) who won silver in the 800m freestyle, Sophie Alliston (girls 14 years) silver in the 100m fly, Olivia King (girls 13 years) silver in the 50m backstroke and Lottie Ava Flatters (girls 13 years) bronze in the 100m fly.

The girls 10-13 50m freestyle relay team also claimed a bronze medal.

Aside from James Cash and Lottie Jenkinson, Oliver Shepherd (four events), Jacob Briers (two events) and Sophie Alliston (two events) performed brilliantly to achieve Midlands regional qualifying times.
