Reaction from Stamford AFC manager Graham Drury after their victory over Halesowen Town
Manager Graham Drury hailed a fantastic result for his Stamford side after a dominant display in their three-goal home success over Halesowen Town on Saturday.
A double strike from Tendai Chitiza and a James Blunden goal ensured the Daniels defeated last season's title rivals in the Southern League Premier Division Central clash.
The victory moved the Daniels up above the Yeltz into seventh spot as they returned to winning ways after losing at Leiston in their last league outing.
Drury said: "The Leiston game was points dropped so we had to win this one. We had put ourselves into a position where we had to win the game.
"The players have stood up to that challenge because I told them that I needed eight or nine out 10 from every single one of them and I can't see where I didn't get that.
"We looked solid and compact and it's a big three points in a game where we were dominant in all thirds of the pitch."
Some fine saves from visiting goalkeeper Daniel Platt had ensured the first half finished goalless with the Yeltz also having a player sent off when Reece Mitchell was red-carded for violent conduct.
Stamford then took full advantage after the break to score three times in 13 minutes before being reduced to 10 men themselves late on when Blunden was dismissed after collecting a second caution.
Drury commented: "We went in at half-time with a game-plan to push Lee Shaw up top and move Tendai Chitiza out wide to try and create an overload.
"We got chalk on our boots from the touchlines which allowed James Blunden and Ashton Offler to step out with the ball to try and find the next path into the thirds.
"They took it all on board and it was a fantastic result for us. It's about the dressing room and they were fantastic.
"Our shape looked very dominant and we were solid and secure and I didn't think the sending off really changed the game.
"We kept the ball in key areas, broke in decent numbers with good pace but that all comes from the centre pin doing his job by linking and setting up play and we looked a threat going forward."
"I was also over the moon with the clean sheet because it's the first one since the Stourbridge game which has been far too long."
Striker Trey Charles has departed the Daniels to join Premier Division Central rivals Barwell with recent recruit Tiago Nassunculo coming on as a second half substitute to make his Daniels debut on Saturday.
