Rutland League cricket round-up





A four-wicket haul from Finn Bray helped Uffington move out of the Rutland League Division Two danger zone on Sunday.

Bray bagged 4-25 from seven overs as the villagers secured an eight-wicket success over second-placed Newborough.

John Burton also took two wickets from his 11-ball spell as Newborough were bowled out for 93 after batting first.

Harry Bentley hit an unbeaten 31 while Damien Herrick was 20 not out as Uffington secured the win inside 21 overs which moved them above Whittlesey and out of the bottom twoo.

Oakham are just seven points clear of Uffington having played two games more after a four-wicket win over Werrington 2nds.

Rajiv Sen took 3-29 from seven overs while Will Begy and Angus Owen both took two wickets each as Werrington were restricted to 197-9 from 45 overs.

Oakham were set a rain revised target of 162 from 37 overs and an unbeaten 53 not out from Owen secured their success.

Barnack's bid for the Division One title was briefly stalled by the wet weather in their match at Uppingham.

The leaders had been bowled out for 175 after being out into bat with Usman Sadiq scoring 58 and Javad Ghani adding 55.

Charlie Cox, Toby Rees and Freddy Williamson all took two wickets for Uppingham who were reeling on 36-7 when rain stopped play.

Sam Hodson had hit 15 of those runs while Shahzad Amir had taken four of the home wickets to fall.

Burghley Park were beaten by 30 runs in their home match with Wisbech who made 237-2.

Mark Hodgson hit 91 in Burghley's reply as the hosts closed on 207-8.

Bourne were one-wicket winners in a closely-contested away match at United Sports in Division Three.

They had dismissed their hosts for 134 as Corey Young and Henry Brewster both took two wickets for Bourne.

Bourne then slipped to 21-4 in reply but half-centuries from Young (51) and Will Gardner (55) looked to have guided them back into the match.

Gardner was the ninth wicket to fall with Bourne one run short of victory as Harrison Elliot then steered them past the winning past.

Uffington 2nds lost by 87 runs against Hampton in the same division after being bowled out for 94 in reply to their visitors' 181.

Harry Carter had claimed four wickets for the villagers while Matt Tarrant was unbeaten on 50 at the close.

Ufford Park 2nds lost by seven wickets in their Division Four East match with Moulton Harrox.

They made 141-9 from 40 overs after batting first with George Weed scoring 47, but an unbeaten century from Jamie Kitchen helped Harrox to victory.

All of Saturday's league matches across the area were cancelled due to the heavy rain.
