Replay for Daniels after FA Cup draw
Daniels boss Graham Drury bemoaned a solitary lapse in concentration after his side shared the spoils with derby rivals Peterborough Sports in Saturday's FA Cup clash at the Zeeco Stadium.
Eliot Putman's second goal in as many games after 56 minutes had put the Daniels in control of the preliminary round contest.
However, Sports struck back with 14 minutes remaining when Stuart Wall rose highest to head home a free-kick and ensure the sides will have to meet again on Tuesday, September 4, to see who progresses to the next stage.
And boss Drury was far from happy with the goal that his charges conceded after a solid showing from the home side.
Drury said: "I was very happy for 94 of the 95 minutes because I felt we controlled the game and were the better side.
"We created chances and pressed well in midfield, but one lapse of concentration from the free-kick has cost us.
"We are used to keeping clean sheets, but people were not doing their job at the free-kick and picking up their players.
"I am not looking for excuses from them because we have let a great opportunity slip away.
"My domain is to come up with a game-plan and it worked well, but one mistake has cost us the chance of going through.
"I was proud of the boys and the way they stuck to the game-plan, but it's just that one lapse of concentration.
"It was our best opportunity of getting through, but credit to Peterborough Sports for keeping going and it was a great header - even if he was completely unmarked."
Stamford made two changes to the side which had won 1-0 on Tuesday night against Loughborough Dynamo with Jon Challinor and Reece Morris coming in for Taron Hare and Sam Grouse.
A fiercely-contested opening period saw plenty of endeavour from both teams, but the booking and foul count outnumbered the amount of clear-cut chances.
Putman tested Sports custodian Lewis Moat with a well-struck free-kick that was expertly gathered by the visiting goalkeeper who enjoyed an excellent afternoon between the posts.
He safely held onto a deflected Rob Morgan effort before Sports responded with both Jordon Cooke and Chris Salt getting in crucial blocks to keep out efforts from Mark Jones.
Lewis Hilliard dragged a shot when well-placed while Bradley Fortnum-Tomlinson headed just wide after latching onto a long clearance from Daniels goalkeeper Dan Haystead.
The second half sprung into life 11 minutes after the restart when Fortnam-Tomlinson was hauled down in the box by Mitch Griffiths and Putman stepped up to confidently send Moat the wrong way from the resultant spot kick.
Salt sent a header just wide after Reece Morris had weaved his magic on the wing to create the opening before the Daniels wideman was thwarted by another top stop from Moat after finding space in the box.
Jones looped a header just over the home crossbar before Sports got back on level terms with just 14 minutes remaining when the unmarked Wall rose to power home a header from Hilliard's free-kick.
Stamford, to their credit, responded well to the setback with Salt going close before Sports broke and Jordan Brown burst clear only to fire straight at Haystead.
It then needed a superb headed goalline clearance from Griffiths to keep out a curling Jake Duffy effort that was destined for the top corner before Moat again excelled late on to thwart Morgan from close range and ensure Sports the home advantage for the replay.
