Round-up of the action in the Leicestershire Cricket League




Five wicket hauls from Shaun Morris and Ed Tattersall helped Oakham return to winning ways in the Premier Division of the Leicestershire League on Saturday.

The duo's fine bowling display helped Oakham secure a 54-run success at Leicester Ivanhoe and ensure their tasted that winning feeling again after two consecutive defeats.

Oakham had batted well after winning the toss and made 243 before eventually all being bowled out.

Richard Martin (41) and Cameron Flowers (33) had put on 42 runs for the first wicket with Albert Radford (16) then helping add another 57 in the next stand.

Tattersall (32) and the in-form Shyam Lakhani (31) kept Oakham on track with a 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Cormac Calnan (16), Morris (18) and Harry Tyler (11) added some late impetus.

Morris then struck twice early on to leave Ivanhoe on 16-2 before bagging the vital wicket of Jake Beaumont (27) to break up a third wicket stand of 54 runs.

Opener Ollie Winder (36) and Yuvraj Odedra (41) added another 54 runs for the next wicket until both fell to the bowling of Tattersall who then dismissed Alex Evans sixth ball.

Mackenzie Moore (25) and James Graham (13) kept Ivanhoe in the hunt for victory until their departures saw Oakham sweep through the tail end.

The hosts were only able to add a further 16 runs for the final three wickets as Morris finished with 5-39 from 8.2 overs while Tattersall took 5-43 off 10.

Oakham 2nds remain top of Division Four East after a seven-wicket home win against Queniborough.

They bowled out their visitors for 104 before reaching the required target in 20 overs.

Ketton Sports made it back-to-back wins in Division Three East after a six-wicket success at Countesthorpe.

After skipper Mat Bird had won the toss and put their hosts into bat, Sports started strongly with Adam Renton picking up two wickets in two balls in his first over of the innings.

Renton returned 3-20 from nine overs while Jonny Smith continued his superb run of form by taking 3-33.

Olly Parkinson made the step up to first team after his impressive six-wicket haul for the seconds last weekend and bowled very well.

Parkinson was unlucky as on another day he could have had three wickets if it wasn't for catches being put down.

Zak Treweek - on his first game back at the club - took two good catches and bowled very well and was joined by Sam Halsall and Bird in taking a wicket apiece as Sports restricted their hosts to 189-9 from 45 overs.

Opener Jacob Miller then led the Sports reply by hitting 10 boundaries to top score with 66 as he superbly controlled the chase with everyone pitching in around him.

Laurence Davis added 23 in a second wicket stand of 67 while Will Bird hit a rapid 41 before brother Mat guided his side past the winning post by hitting 23 off just nine balls.

They made 166-8 from their 40 overs after being put into bat with skipper Ben Allison top-scoring with 42 not out while openers Tim Hawkins and Joe Evans both made 21.

The visitors then secured their success with six overs to spare despite Evans taking 3-19 from six overs for Sports while Nick Kennett and Jacob Young bagged a brace each.

Uppingham Town suffered their first defeat of the Division One campaign after a six-wicket home loss to Barkby United.

Town had elected to bat first but were bowled out for 212 with Sam Hodson (48) and Kashif Munir (46) their top scorers.

Last week's century-maker Jack Vickerman made 25 for Town while brothers Jamie and Danny Dumford both hit 21.

Ben Hollis then led the Barkby charge to victory with an unbeaten 95 not out which included 13 boundaries.

He was superbly supported by Steve Flowers who made 73 as the duo put on a match-winning 140 runs for the third wicket.

Scott Green grabbed a couple of wickets to finish with 2-37 from nine overs but Barkby scraped home with just six deliveries remaining.

Market Overton were also beaten for the first time this season after a 121-run home defeat against Sileby Town 3rds.

The visitors had batted first and made an imposing 258 off 40 overs with Connor Simon striking 92 and Joe Davies making 66 in a superb opening stand of 173.

Alex Laybourne and Mark Hudson finally made the breakthroughs before Mikey Roberts returned to the Marko attack to finish with 3-40 from 10 overs.

Brian Makwana top-scored with 58 in Marko's reply as the hosts were bowled out for 137 with opener Dale Howkins also hitting 32.

Uppingham 2nds made it back-to-back wins in Division Seven East after a 52-run triumph at Sileby Town 4ths.

Dan Snaith and George Scott shared a superb 149-run stand for the first wicket as Town made 258-3 from their 40 overs.

Snaith struck 13 boundaries in his 83 while Scott smashed a six and 14 fours as his 86 ensured Town made a strong start.

Jazz Lall then added an unbeaten 52 with Lee Middleton 27 not out at the close after a 54-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Home opener Steven Loveridge led the Sileby reply with a terrific 132 as his side closed their 40 overs on 206-7.

Loveridge hit 19 fours and three sixes in his innings which was eventually ended by Kester Sainsbury who took 3-41 from 10 overs while Charlie Cox claimed 2-24 off seven.

Uppingham 3rds were beaten by 60 runs against their Barkby United counterparts in Division Nine East.

Their visitors made 279-3 from 40 overs with openers David Davies (90) and Adam Cookson (92) top-scoring.

Uppingham made a decent effort of chasing down a tough target as they closed their 40 overs on 219-7.

Skipper Andy Cross top-scored with 69 while Josh Skelham struck 58.

Market Overton 2nds were also defeated in the same division after losing by 22 runs against Houghton and Thurnby 3rds.

Richard Cooper claimed 3-33 as their hosts made 214-9 from 40 overs before Marko were dismissed for 192 in their reply.

Tim Willford top-scored with 63 while Ellen Marson made 44 and opener Ben Warner 23.

Wakerley and Barrowden made it a losing treble for Rutland sides in Division Nine East after a 113-run loss against Langtons 3rds.

Nicky Farrer took 3-57 and Matthew Key 2-66 as Langtons made 265-7 before dismissing Wakerley for 152.

Jonny White top-scored after hitting 39 while Chris White made 27 with Farrer and Gareth Packer both hitting 22.
