Ketton FC manager Darren Edey has stepped down from his role in charge of the first team despite things going impressively on the field this season.

Edey leaves the team in third position in the PDFL Division, in reach of promotion.

I wish the lads well for the rest of the season and really hope they push on and realise how good they are and get the promotion and cup success they deserve.

The club’s 4-1 win at home to Oundle Town was his final match in charge.

Will Bird and Ian Marsh both struck twice to deliver a send off win. Donal Horan scored for the visitors.

Edey said: “I just felt I have probably taken Ketton as far as I can within its current set up.

“I feel the football side needs more support off the field. The complex has some amazing plans for the future regarding facilities but I feel they also need to concentrate on the football side if they want to progress like they say they do.

“I’ve left on good terms and have no intention of getting involved with any other Peterborough League side apart from Ketton. I wish the lads well for the rest of the season and really hope they push on and realise how good they are and get the promotion and cup success they deserve.”

Experienced player Danny Hussey will take over the running of the first team until the end of the season which is now just eight games away.

Last week Ketton Reserve team manager Ricky Dent also stepped down from his role at the club citing personal reasons. He has been replaced by Andy Gray.

On Saturday the Reserves went down 3-2 away at Spalding United Reserves in the PDFL Division Two.

Nick Mainstone and Rob McGarr scored for Ketton but goals from Matthew Cannon, Mathew Hempsall and Jack Wycherley gave the home side victory.
