The 20-year old led out the Great Britain team as their first rider in the elite men's team sprint at the UCI Nation's Cup Track Cycling Championships in Adelaide, Australia.

Over the course of the three races of the Team Sprint tournament - qualifications and the knock-out rounds - Lowe rode consistent fast and world-class laps where he was the second fastest first rider on every round.

The Great Britain team were able to improve upon their initial fourth place achieved during the qualifying race to beat China in the minor final by about 0.3 seconds and win the bronze medal.

The time the Great Britain team achieved was 42.915 which was the fastest time they have achieved in the last couple of years.

This was Lowe's first-ever ride for the podium team and he performed very consistently and was rock-steady throughout the races.

He was then part of Team Inspired - British Cycling's trade team - at the British National Track Championships in Manchester.

Lowe led out the men's elite team sprint to win the gold medal and to retain his national championship title for the second year with attention now turning to Olympic selection.

His dad, David, said: "As these races came very early in the year, these series of rides places Ed in a great position for consideration and possible selection for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

"We have all got our fingers crossed for Ed."
