Stamford Belvedere beat Leverington Sports in Peterborough League Premier Division clash
Jordan Neil netted five times as newly-promoted Stamford Bels made it back-to-back wins in the Peterborough League Premier Division on Saturday.
Kieran Duffy-Weekes also bagged a brace as Bels followed up their opening day win at Crowland with a 7-2 success over Leverington at Blackstones' Torney Limited Stadium.
Bels started slowly but then grew into the game and almost took the lead when Lewis Morley’s long range chip left the keeper stranded only to hit the crossbar.
The home side did open the scoring though when Duffy-Weekes found Neil whose strike nestled in the bottom corner.
Neil made it 2-0 before half-time after a mazy run was halted by the hand of a Leverington defender and he calmly converted the resultant spot kick.
His hat-trick was completed early into the second half after a Kyle Scott ball found Neil who rounded the keeper.
Duffy-Weekes then got in on the goalscoring act with a long range wonder goal after chipping the keeper from 30 yards out.
Leverington hit back with a quick-fire double after two mistakes, but Neil made sure there was no route back into the game for them after he responded with two rapid goals of his own.
The first was converted after a Luke Toomey ball before Neil's fifth and final goal was after Morley slotted the midfielder in.
Duffy-Weekes completed the scoring for the day after once again dinking the ball over the keeper.
Bels could have increased their lead further with Josh Dowell and Louie Roberts both having good chance.
Player manager Morley said: "We were superb again.
"Their goals were both from silly mistakes which was disappointing, but overall we were outstanding.
"Jordan was simply unplayable. People only dream of scoring five in a game but he made it look easy.
"Everyone contributed well though as defensively we were sound and Keenan Murphy coming back in goal was also brilliant after a month out."
Bels now turn their attentions to a derby duel at Oakham United tonight (Wednesday).
