Rutland Cricket Centre will be the only specific facility for that sport in the county
Rutland is set to receive a major boost to the county’s sporting scene.
The Rutland Cricket Centre is due to open later this month and will be the only specific facility for that sport in the county.
The centre – which will be based at Lyddington Road in Caldecott – will be powered by a local team of highly-respected professional coaches.
Director Tom Flowers explained: “We have been researching the perfect area and facility for a long time and now have the funding and backing to deliver this facility to local cricketers in the perfect location.
“We hope that the Rutland Cricket Centre provides a much-needed facility for the area, benefitting the many cricketers, individuals, children, adults, females, disability cricketers and more. Our staff really cannot wait to get going on this.”
The aim of the facilities is to become the centrepiece of Rutland cricket during the off season, connecting the county’s cricketing market towns of Oakham and Uppingham while also being very accessible for the neighbouring hotbeds of Stamford, Oundle and Market Harborough which are all accessible within 30 minutes of the venue.
Flowers added: “With no other cricket-specific facilities like this within a 24-mile radius, both the Leicestershire and Rutland League (12 divisions) and Northamptonshire League (14 divisions) clubs and their players will be able to have access to a great winter training option for the off season until April.
“The centre will be open for lane and whole hall hire as well as one-to-one lessons and bowling machine usage with video analysis as standard.
“There has never been a better time for us to release this to the community, at a time when we are all in need of some positive news.
“We hope the Rutland Cricket Centre can bring some positivity and enjoyment back to the people of the county as we continue to battle through this test.”
