Stamford AFC continute to recruit for the Southern League Premier Division Central season

Stamford have strengthened their attacking options for the new season with a quartet of new acquisitions.

Lee Shaw, Trey Charles, Jenson Cooper and Olly Brown-Hill have all agreed to join the Daniels for the forthcoming Southern League Premier Division Central season.

Shaw becomes the third player to move to the Daniels from Northern Premier League East Division neighbours Grantham Town following the earlier arrivals of Harry Wood and Ashton Offler.

The 29-year-old has previously played for Chesterfield, Guiseley and Alfreton having initially started out at the Gingerbreads.

Charles was with Northern Premier League Midlands Division side St Neots last season and netted 18 goals despite the Saints being relegated.

He has also featured for Bedford Town, Northwood, Braintree, Hendon, Biggleswade, Berkhamsted and Kempton Rovers in recent seasons.

Cooper joins the Daniels from AFC Rushden & Diamonds who were relegated from the Southern League Premier Division Central last term.

The 19-year-old came through the academy at League One side Shrewsbury Town and netted against the Daniels for the Diamonds in a pre-season friendly last term.

The return of Brown-Hill is now on a permanent basis after he spent time on loan with the Daniels last season from Ilkeston Town.

He had initially left Stamford a couple of seasons ago to join the Robins who he helped win the Northern Premier League Midlands Division title.

Their arrivals will bolster a strike force which will be without the services of last season's top scorer Jonathon Margetts and Cameron Johnson who have joined Matlock and Belper respectively.

Attacker Will Mellors-Blair has decided to leave the club to take up a higher level offer after initially agreeing terms while goalkeeper Ben Heath is moving onto pastures new.

Manager Graham Drury has also strengthened his backroom team by recruiting Wayne Scott as assistant coach.

Scott has previously bossed Northern Premier League East Division side Carlton Town and has also been at the helm as part of a management team at step three club Basford United.
