Peterborough and District Football League round-up




Four successive wins have left Deeping Rangers Reserves setting the early pace in the Peterborough League Premier Division.

The Clarets' second string are the only side in the top flight with a 100 percent record after the opening quartet of games.

They maintained their winning start on Wednesday night with a 4-3 derby victory over Deeping United at the Haydon Whitham Stadium.

Nathan Pickering scored twice for Rangers with Luke Woodhouse and Tom Palmer also on target.

That followed a 3-0 away success at Chatteris Town on Saturday courtesy of second half goals from Pickering (two) and James Russell.

Deeping United had picked up their first win since promotion at the weekend after a 1-0 home success over Warboys with Durrel Anderson scoring the vital goal.

Oakham United have bounced back from successive defeats with consecutive victories.

The Rutland side were 2-1 winners at Holbeach United Reserves in their Premier Division clash on Saturday.

Sam Welford and Kyul Thurley netted the vital goals for a United side who then defeated Wittering Premiair by the same margin on Tuesday night.

Thurley bagged both goals in the home success against a Wittering Premiair side who had played out a 1-1 draw with Whittlesey Reserves at the weekend as Grant Tippett netted their goal.

Uppingham shared the spoils for the second time in three games on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Ramsey Town as Noah Sinclair scored their goal.

Stamford Bels have four wins after netting four goals in each of their victories in Division One.

David Atkinson, Kieran Duffy-Weekes, Alex Szymanski and Josh Dowell netted in the 4-2 home success over Eunice Huntingdon on Saturday.

They then won 4-0 at Wittering Premiair Reserves on Tuesday night with Scott Toomey scoring twice and Harrison Mcloughlin and Alfie Winters completing their tally.

It was a second successive four-goal defeat for Wittering Premiair Reserves after they lost 4-0 at Stilton United on Saturday.

Glinton and Northborough have made an impressive start with four successive victories.

They won 8-2 at Park Farm Pumas on Tuesday night after goals from Anslem Odebala (two), George Bateman, Max Howe, Rhys Lenton, Adam Lomas, Scott Nottingham and Luca Martignetti.

That win came on the back of an excellent 3-2 away victpry at Netherton United on Saturday after goals from Lenton, Martignetti and Nottingham.

Luke Cramp scored a hat-trick as Stamford Bels Reserves started their Division Two campaign with a 6-1 away win at Deeping United's second string.

Tom Davey, Joe McDonald and David Wagstaff also scored for Bels with Jake Owen replying for United.

Stamford Lions were 3-1 home winners over Crowland Reserves thanks to goals from Ryan Brown, Stuart Hall and Frank Sarfo.

They followed that up on Tuesday night with a 4-0 away success at Stamford Bels Reserves as Brown scored twice, Hall was again on target along with Callum Palmer.

Newly-promoted Bourne Reserves drew 2-2 at Thorney on Saturday with Jake Dilley and Joe Scott scoring for the Wakes.

They then beat Netherton Reserves 3-2 in midweek after goals from Ryan Baxter, Nathan Bills and Dan Rayner.

Newly-promoted Stamford AFC Reserves have opened their Division Three season with a victory double.

They beat Park Farm Pumas A 2-0 on Tuesday night after goals from Tyler Savage and Tanaka Govha.

It followed a 3-1 away win at Stanground Cardea Sports Reserves on Saturday where Savage and Govha were again on target along with Jacob Poxon.

Wittering also have back-to-back wins as Liam Reilly netted three times in their 6-1 away win at King's Cliffe on Saturday.

Jude Bloodworth and Jakub Komisarczyk were also among their marksmen with Ashley Davies scoring for King's Cliffe.

Wittering were 7-2 home winners over Ramsey Reserves on Tuesday night.

Uppingham Reserves suffered a heavy 9-0 away loss at South Lincs Swifts on Saturday and then went down to a 4-1 midweek defeat against Netherton A with Josh Porter scoring their goal.

Elsea Park Eagles have had a mixed start as goals from Ryan Mills (two) and Sam Waterfall secured a 3-1 midweek win over Moulton Harrox Reserves.

They had lost 3-2 at home to Sawtry Reserves on Saturday with Waterfall and George Edney getting their goals.

There has also been a mixed start for the two Ketton Sports teams who have joined Division Four.

Sam Thompson scored four times as the Blacks beat Peterborough Lions 5-1 on Saturday with Martin Sharp also on target for the Rutland side.

They then lost 8-1 at ICA Sports on Tuesday night with Kian Heathfield hitting their consolation.

The Blues were beaten 6-2 away at Nxt Gen on Saturday despite goals from Luke Ball and Daniel Harber.

They bounced back on Tuesday night though with a 7-1 home success over Glinton & Northborough Reserves.

Ball bagged a hat-trick with Seb Mills scoring twice while Laurance Carter and Aaron Guntrip also netted.

Wittering Reserves lost 4-0 at home to Peterborough Rangers Reserves on Saturday and then went down to a 7-1 away loss at FC Peterborough Development in midweek.

Glinton & Northborough's second string were beaten 10-1 at ICA Sports on Saturday with Ellis Munday scoring their consolation.

Oakham United are staging the annual Barry Clarke memorial match on Sunday.

The game pits veterans from United against an Oakham Imps side and raises money each year for the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS). Kick-off at Newton Fallowell Meadow is 10.30am.
