Stamford Striders take part in the Hereward Relay event
Stamford Striders claimed a top 10 finish as teams from the club took part in the Hereward Relay on Sunday.
The men's A team came home in 10th spot in the four stage event which started in Peterborough and followed (as far as possible) the Hereward Way for more than 39 miles to Ely crossing over bridleways, fields, bridges and tracks.
Relay teams consisted of four members who each ran one stage from Peterborough Athletics Track to Whittlesey; Whittlesey to March; March to Welney and then Welney to the finish at Ely Rugby Club.
The men completed the course in 4hrs 34mins 30secs while the Striders' Mid Life Crisis team came 31st in 05.08.25 and Wades Warriors took 43rd place in 05.16.27.
The Baton Rogues were 47th in 05.19.18 while the Stamford Striders Ladies A completed the course in 53th in a time of 05.27.07.
Megaman were just a couple of places behind in 55th after a time of 05.27.47 while Tiptoe Through The Turnips came home 74th in 05.50.44.

Third stage: Nick Harding (mens A) 01.21.29, Mike Chapman (Baton Rogues) 01.22.18, Katie Arnold (ladies A) 01.25.24, Wayne Staff (Mid Life Crisis) 01.28.58, Neil Beckingham (Wades Warriors) 01.33.59, Megg Humphrey (Megaman) 01.44.48, Claire Maxted (Tiptoe Through The Turnips) 01.49.19.
