Goalkeeper Dan Wallis has returned to Stamford AFC from Corby Town
Manager Graham Drury felt it was the right time to bring goalkeeper Dan Wallis back to the Southern League club.
Wallis came back from a loan spell with Corby Town to play a crucial role in the Daniels' home win over Coalville Town on Saturday.
Replacing Michael Duggan, he made a brilliant double save shortly after the Ravens had taken the lead before Stamford broke to get back on level terms through Jack Duffy's first goal of the game.
Drury explained: "Dan has made an unbelievable save which we've then gone and scored from and credit to the kid because he's been out of the side for a while.
"I felt it was the right time to bring him back because he's much more proactive around his box which we needed against Coalville.
"It was a hard conversation to have with Duggy because he's a great keeper and he's still at the club but he made it easy because he understood the reasoning.
"We needed a sweeping keeper against Coalville because of their runners and Dan has done everything that I have asked of him in terms of his loan at Corby.
"He's still trained with us and, although Duggy felt it was harsh on him, he knows that Dan is a good keeper.
"I have to be ruthless because I want to win games of football, even if that means making changes in any area of the football pitch."
After Wallis' double save and Duffy's goal had got the Daniels back on level terms, James Blunden headed the hosts in front.
Duffy then sealed the 3-1 win - their second of the season over Coalville - after the break against a Ravens side who finished the match with nine men.
Goalkeeper Paul White was sent off in the first half after handling outside his box before Kieran Cook saw red deep into stoppage time for a late challenge.
Drury commented: "It was a fantastic result and any side who takes six points off a very good Coalville side during a season deserves a lot of credit.
"A lot of people will talk about the goalkeeping incident changing the game but it was intelligent football from us that caused it.
"Harry Vince has slipped the ball through and Lee Shaw has been really clever to make the keeper have an error of judgement.
"You have to give credit to the dressing room for getting them down to 10 men because it was down to good football.
"The lads then played to the game-plan in the second half. We could play on the break or be patient on the ball if we wanted to."
Stamford included new signing Florian Tsagium in the squad after securing the services of the former Corby and Yaxley attacker from Royston Town.
They had been without the suspended Ashton Offler - whose ban was being served at Stamford's level which saw him permitted to play at step five for Deeping Rangers under new rules - while Tendai Chitiza was ineligible to play against his former club.
Drury said: "We had a gentleman's agreement with Coalville following T's transfer and I am a man of my word so, if I shake hands with someone after a deal, then you stick to it as far as I am concerned.
"Flo will be a good addition to the squad though. He has scored against us for Corby, Yaxley and Royston so hopefully he continues to keep scoring now that's playing for us.
"I wanted to get him on but, with a couple of players cramping up, it was unfortunate I had to make other changes but he understood that."
Saturday's success leaves Stamford in sixth spot, just one point outside of the play-off places.
