Uppingham Community College pupil Thomas Harvey makes appeal for sponsorship after success in the Daniel Ricciardo Series
A rising motorsport star who attends Uppingham Community College is appealing for sponsorship to help move him further up the racing grid.
Thomas Harvey has enjoyed a superb campaign in the Daniel Ricciardo Series where he triumphed in the 100 (junior) Karting Championship.
The 16-year-old won every race in the three rounds at the Rissington, Clay Pigeon and Shenington events.
He topped his class with a 650-point haul that placed him 41 points clear of Alisha Palmowski in second spot.
The Daniel Ricciardo championship is an exclusive racing event for the Ricciardo Kart and is a one-make series with the emphasis on a driver’s ability and natural talent.
Harvey – a year 11 pupil who is currently studying for his GCSEs and hoping to get the grades required to attend Harington School in Oakham to take A-Level maths, further maths and computer studies – is now setting his sights on entering the British Formula 4 championship.
But that next step requires extra funding and he is hoping to find a sponsor to help him fulfil his ambition.
His mum Mary Walsh explained: “Thomas started in bambino karts at the age of eight at Daytona, in Milton Keynes, and had a natural ability and love for the sport.
“He moved up to cadets and became the 2017 birelART vice-champion before moving to junior karts and coming eighth in his first year, fourth in his second year and winning in 2020.
“Thomas’ ambition is to race in British Formula 4 but he won’t be able to achieve this without sponsorship and we’re hoping someone may be able help us reach his goal.”
