Robbins comes up big to snatch all three points for Stamford AFC
Ryan Robbins sealed Stamford AFC’s first set of back-to-back wins since August with a goal from the penalty spot one minute from time to give the Daniels a 3-2 victory away at bottom of the Evo-Stik NPL side Belper Town on Saturday.
All the Daniels’ goals came after the break. Belper went ahead in the 27th minute through new signing Paul Grimes, formerly of Grantham Town, before Robbins scored the first of a brace to level the score.
Belper’s Paul Lister than put the ball in the back of his own net to give Stamford the lead before making amends at the other end by bringing parity to the scoreline with a goal of his own.
With the clock ticking down it was looking like another two points dropped but in the 89th minute Robbins snatched the result with his second.
Stamford skipper Jordan Smith was hauled down for the penalty and Robbins calmly slotted the ball past Belper goalkeeper Danny Haystead to continue his impressive return to fitness after breaking his foot back in November. He has now scored four goals in four games.
The win, which follows a 1-0 defeat of Spalding Town in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy on Tuesday, moves the Daniels up to one place in the league table to 17th.
