Stamford travel to Loughborough Dynamo in the BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division
Skipper Sean Wright is backing his in-form Stamford team-mates to continue their rapid progress.
The Daniels return to BetVictor Northern Premier League South East Division action on Saturday with a trip to Loughborough Dynamo before a home clash with Wisbech Town on New Year’s Day.
They were knocked off top spot on Boxing Day following Leek Town's victory over Glossop North End, but can return to pole position with victory at Loughborough this weekend.
Stamford make the trip to the ADT Stadium looking to protect their undefeated away record while also aiming to extend their 11-match unbeaten run.
And Wright, who has scored three goals in the past two games for the division’s highest scorers, feels his side will only get stronger as the season progresses.
He said: “The changing room is buzzing and the gaffer has got a really good group of players together.
“We’ve got a good squad with different types of players and a good bench. All of the lads want to be here and understand the fact that some can’t get in the side at the moment because of how well we’re playing.
“It would be easy for a few lads to get their egos up because of the run we’re on or be annoyed at being on the bench, but it’s nothing like that.
“We are starting to gel more and, as each game goes, we seem to be getting stronger and stronger.”
Wright set Stamford on their way to a 5-1 home victory over Glossop North End last weekend with the opening goal of the game.
His second strike and Stamford’s fourth then capped a quick-fire blast of four goals in 15 minutes which maintained their superb run of form.
Wright added: “It was a good result overall.
“We didn’t start very brightly by our standards but, as soon as the first goal went in, we looked in control.
“We were pretty clinical as well. It’s always good to get a win, it keeps us ticking over and being top of the league at Christmas was great.
“The gaffer was trying to guard us against complacency after a good result against Cleethorpes the week before. It would have been quite easy to let it slip, but we kept focused and got the result.
“The gaffer keeps saying to me that he needs more goals from the back four so the last couple of games have been good ones.
“He’s always trying to drill into us about setpieces because we do have good deliveries.
“It was just a matter of time before we started nicking a few goals and it proved its worth on Saturday.”
Saturday’s hosts Loughborough are 14th and include former Daniels defender Josh Egginton in their ranks while Wisbech are currently second-from-bottom having recently parted company with manager Seb Hayes.
Former Stamford player and coach Kevin Ward is currently in temporary charge of the Fenmen who were 3-0 winners over Spalding United on Boxing Day.
