Stamford AFC beat Long Eaton United in the Southern League Premier Division Central

Stamford secured back-to-back away wins after a hard-fought victory over Long Eaton United at Grange Park on Saturday.

The Daniels arrived on the back of a fine win over Hitchin Town the previous weekend and were up against a team who have struggled so far this season.

There was a change in midfield with Will Glennon coming in for Rob Morgan which saw Harry Vince captain the side.

Stamford started well with Jack Duffy having a shot which was well saved by Ross Durrant in the home goal.

Long Eaton then had a chance through Thomas Hewlett which Michael Duggan was able to push away for a corner.

The Daniels took the lead after nine minutes when a corner from the left was swung in and Glennon was able to stab home after his initial shot was blocked. This was the midfielders first goal for the club.

The home side were level after 15 minutes when a cross from Callum Cocks was met by Joseph Nyahwema and he slotted the ball past Duggan.

Ashton Offler then met the ball from a corner but his header was over the bar before Long Eaton almost took the lead when a long-range effort from Jack Rogers nearly caught Duggan out but the Stamford keeper was able to tip the ball over the bar.

Just before half time, Glennon had a shot which was blocked before coming out to Lee Shaw and his effort was charged down for a corner.

From the resultant setpiece, the ball was met by Tom Siddons who put his header wide. This was followed by a header from James Blunden but again not hitting the target.

Into the second half and a long throw from substitute Billy Bennett was flicked on but cleared off the line.

Stamford grabbed a second after 69 minutes when a long ball saw Jack Duffy toe it away from the defender and the Daniels frontman raced clear before rounding the keeper and slotting into the net.

Long Eaton were still dangerous on the break and Hewlett and James Spruce had efforts but neither were able to trouble Duggan.

With the game deep into injury time, Stamford grabbed a third to put gloss on the performance.

A long ball downfield was met by Shaw and the Stamford forward spotted Durrant off his line and he lobbed the keeper from 25 yards.
