Stamford AFC's Northern Premier League South East Division campaign is put on hold
Stamford's hopes of restarting their Northern Premier League campaign have been put on hold.
The Daniels were due to host Market Drayton Town on Saturday in a South East Division clash at the Zeeco Stadium.
However, despite the national lockdown ending, league officials have opted to pause the campaign with concerns over the restrictions of the tier system.
Eighteen of the 20 teams in Stamford's division - including the Daniels - are in the highest tier three which means their matches must be played behind closed doors.
A meeting was held by the trident leagues with member clubs on Tuesday evening to discuss the re-start.
The clubs were asked to vote on a proposition that the pause in fixtures be continued with a regular review in light of changes to the tiers.
The total votes cast by the 224 clubs showed a substantial number of them in agreement with the proposition. Therefore, this weekend's league fixtures have been postponed, subject to FA approval.
The Daniels' FA Trophy tie at Kidsgrove Athletic on Tuesday - which was due to still go-ahead - fell victim to the weather with a waterlogged pitch forcing the match to be postponed.
The first round proper tie has been rearranged for Saturday with a 1pm kick-off. The match will be played behind closed doors.
