Former Stamford Welland Academy pupil Ethan Young to play for Scunthorpe United's youth team against Manchester United at Old Trafford

Lifelong Manchester United fan Ethan Young will see his dream come true on Monday night when he gets the chance to play at Old Trafford.

The former Stamford Welland Academy pupil is part of the Scunthorpe United youth team that has been drawn to play Mancester United in the FA Youth Cup.

The teenager was part of the Iron side which defeated Guiseley 1-0 in the last round to secure their tie with the Red Devils on Monday evening (7pm).

And the centre-half - who signed a two-year apprentice scholarship with the League Two side last year - is relishing the challenge in the third round clash.

Young said: "I am so excited to be in the third round of the FA Youth Cup against Manchester United.

"I have supported Manchester United all my life and it's always been my dream to play at Old Trafford.

"I can't wait to step out in the Theatre of Dreams and play in front of so many people.

"It's an honour to play at such a high level for Scunthorpe United and it’s a big moment for me, my team-mates and the club.

"I am really pleased that my family and friends will be travelling from Stamford to support me on Monday night and I appreciate all of the Scunthorpe fans that will be making the trip to Manchester."

The tie pits United of the English Under 18 Premier League against a Scunthorpe side who play in the Youth Alliance which comes under the umbrella of the Football League.

The Iron's youngsters warmed up for Monday's clash by sharing the spoils in a 1-1 home draw with Mansfield Town at the weekend with Young playing the full 90 minutes for Tony Daws' side.
