Stamford AFC's FA Trophy clash with Kidderminster Harriers will be played behind closed doors

Stamford's FA Trophy clash with Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday night will be played behind closed doors.

The Daniels are due to host the National League North high-flyers in the second round of the competition following their victory at Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday.

With Stamford being in a tier three area and Kidderminster being classed as an elite team (step two or above of the National League System), Football Association rules mean the game must be played without supporters.

A club statement said: "While we share your frustration that you will not be able to attend this game, we will ensure highlights of the game are available as soon as possible afterwards. We are also looking into the feasibility of streaming the game.

"Please do not attempt to attend the game in any way as this could affect our ability to have supporters back for future matches."

A decision on restarting Stamford's Northern Premier League South East Division campaign will be made after the Government's review of the tier system on Wednesday.

Clubs had initially voted to suspend the season rather than play games behind closed doors in tier three areas, but a percentage of fans will now be allowed back into grounds for league games following a Government review.

A league statement said: "The Trident Leagues (Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern Football Leagues) welcome the decision to allow some fans into grounds situated in tier three areas.

"However, in light of the decision of all 224 clubs only last week to vote overwhelmingly in favour of suspending the current season, the leagues have decided to wait to see the implications of the Government’s review of the tier system in England – due on Wednesday - before making any further announcements."
